Between the 18-21 September 2023, Ms Lagafuaina Tavita, our Director of the Special Investigation Unit, was in Tonga to represent Samoa as one of the country review experts to review Tonga as per the requirements of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).During her trip, she was greeted and hosted by the Tongan Ombudsman herself, Mrs Alisi Taumoepeau, Acting CEO Roman Vaihu and the staff of the Office of the Ombudsman - 'Ofisi 'oe 'Omipatimeni039;Omipatimeni to dinner and a tour of the island on her last day. The Ombudsman/National Human Rights Institution Office SAMOA took the time today to train and update the Samoa Police Basic Recruits on the mandates of the office and how important their roles as police officers is crucial in serving the people of Samoa. The police recruits had many questions and each were answered by our staff representatives of the Good Governance Unit, Special Investigation Unit, National Human Rights Institution.
